Description: In March 1925, His Royal Highness Prince Charles (son of King Ferdinand and royal heir to the throne of Romania) visits Bessarabia, a province that became a part of Romania in 1918. In Kishinev (Chisinau), Prince Charles reviews the honour guard, goes to the Cathedral and to the parade. In honour of his visit, peasants from Bessarabia (Hotin, Cetatea Alba and Ismail counties), college pupils, women, children, boy scouts, officers and soldiers (infantry and cavalry) defile with Romanian flags and slogans pro the Romanian Royal Family. Prince Charles eats together with local peasants and intellectuals, who speak freely and happily to His Royal Highness. In Bulboaca, Prince Charles assists at the allotment of peasants with land and distributes property certificates. He then goes to Tighina, where he speaks again to the people. Grown-ups and children wait to greet the high guest. On the bank of the Dniester (Nistru) river, Prince Charles looks into the distance at Russia’s villages and towns.
